We believe that collaboration with producers, retailers, NGOs and government within the spice industry will go a long way towards improving sustainability in the sector. We are happy to support NSSP – along with World Spice Organization, IDH and GIZ – as it effectively brings together key players in the sector on one platform, to address sustainability issues in the spices industry in India, which is also an area of focus for the Spice Board. By fostering a collaborative industry commitment on sustainable spice production, NSSP helps in scaling positive impact, which may not have been possible for organizations to drive alone.

National Sustainable Spice Program (NSSP) is an important initiative addressing several sustainability issues of farming community and other stakeholders through its various activities and by enabling stakeholders to work on joint solutions. NSSP is especially beneficial for the farming community and it promotes production of safe and good quality spices, works towards improvement in supply chain and enhancing export opportunities, which consequently improve health benefits for the consumers and income benefits for the farmers.
